Around noon I went to school and did the same workout the girls did at practice yesterday. I had planned to hit Anna's times and got close, but didn't quite make it. All things considered I didn't blow this workout out of the park, but it was a strong one.

The plan:

  • 10 minute warmup
  • 1200 on the lower loop at near race pace. I was shooting for around 4:45 - 5:00
  • 300 on the track hard. I was shooting for about 0:55.
  • 1200 faster than the last one
  • 300 same as the last one
  • 1200 faster than the other two
  • cooldown

The result:

  • warmup: 2.2km
  • 1200: 4:41. A little faster than I had planned and worried that it would hurt the rest of the workout.
  • 300: Didn't successfully time it. At the time I guessed it was around 0:55.
  • 1200: 4:50. Slower than the last one for sure. I knew it was happening when I checked my reference past the bench but decided it was better to be a little slow on this one than blow the rest of the workout.
  • 300: 1:03. It felt pretty fast and I was surprised that it clocked in at 1:03. I wonder if I wasn't doing the 300s hard enough and therefore not being as tired as the workout was designed for me to be, or this second one was slow because I had started the workout too hard.
  • 1200: 4:41. Great got the same time as the first one. Glad I was still able to build after the second one.
  • cooldown: 1.85km
